Weekend Wrap Up

As we draw closer to the official start of spring, I am in full gear wrapping up spring inspired articles for HGTVGardens. At the same time, I spent part of the week finalizing plans for Halloween (scary, right?). Production on those begins very soon.

I overfilled my plate with work this week so I can take some time away next week. The kids are on Spring Break, and I smell a road trip. One of the best things about last week was the Treat of the Week: Fruit Filled Chocolate Tacos (make those). However, without a doubt, the highlight of my week was the screening of Ship of Theseus and meeting the writer/director. Read more about that and some other stuff I loved this week below.

1  Balsamic Roasted Strawberry Sauce - from Brian Samuels of A Thought For Food. Brian is an incredibly talented photographer. Beyond this recipe, which sounds crazy good, you'll find loads of other recipes on his site.

Ship of Theseus - I went to a screening of this film and interview with the writer/director, Anand Gandhi, this week. The film is a trio of vignettes that are surprisingly intertwined. At the root of the story is a deeper look at how all of our actions impact the universe. The cinematography is simply stunning. There are several, magical, long shots which, as Gandhi explains, are "an invitation for the viewer to contemplate, an opportunity for transportation and meditation." Each of the stories touches on the concepts of science, philosophy, and art and how "the lines between these are continually being blurred", according to Gandhi. I highly recommend viewing it. You can see the trailer at the link above, and there are some streaming versions of the full film available around the web.

Liuku light - by Maija Puoskari on Contemporist. These pendants are so simple and so chic. The wooden top extends into the glass shade and holds the bulb. See it and much more on Contemporist, a must see site for anyone who loves modern design.

Elsa cup with Saucer - a new edition to the Crate and Barrel line up and my new coffee obsession. There are a few styles, but this one totally speaks to me.

The Sriracha Cookbook - by Randy Clemens. I made chili paste this week. I added garlic because that's the way I like it. Then I remembered why I like it... because I LOVE sriracha. If you like hot and spicy, you will find dozens of recipes here to ignite your fire. Add this one to your cookbook collection.
